A minor roof repair costs $150 to $1,000 in 2026, by national published figures. What you pay in Scottsdale depends on the roof type, how easy the spot is to reach and how far the water travelled before anyone saw it.
Price ranges on this page are national figures published by HomeGuide for 2026. They are not our quotes. Local labor, material prices, roof access and what we find under the old roof move the number up or down. Last checked October 2026.
How much does roof repair cost?
Nationally, roof repair cost falls into three bands: minor repairs $150 to $1,000, moderate repairs $1,000 to $3,000 and major repairs $3,000 to $6,000 or more. Roofing labor is published at $40 to $100 per hour.
| Roof type | Minor repair | Per square (100 sq ft) |
|---|---|---|
| Asphalt shingles | $100 to $300 | $350 to $1,000 |
| Tile | $200 to $500 | $500 to $2,500 |
| Flat or single-ply | $200 to $500 | $250 to $1,000 |
| Metal | $200 to $600 | $500 to $1,500 |
How much does it cost to fix a roof leak?
It costs $150 to $1,000 to fix a minor roof leak, by the national figures. A leak with water damage runs $1,000 to $3,000, and one with structural damage $3,000 to $6,000 or more. The leak itself is often cheap to fix. The cost climbs with wet insulation, stained drywall and rotted decking, which is why a small monsoon leak should not wait for the next storm.
How much does tile roof repair cost?
Tile roof repair costs $500 to $2,500 on average nationally. Broken tiles are $60 to $125 per tile, slipped tiles $300 to $750 to reset, and a tile roof leak $200 to $900. Replacing underlayment under tile is the larger job, published at $1,100 to $9,000. A minimum job fee of $300 to $500 is also published for tile work.
How much does it cost to replace a few missing shingles?
Replacing missing shingles costs $100 to $300 nationally for 3 to 25 shingles. Monsoon wind is what usually takes them. Shingles that have gone brittle in the sun can crack when the neighbours are lifted for the repair, so an old roof may need a wider patch than the bare spot suggests.
How much does flashing repair cost?
Flashing repair costs $200 to $500 for minor work nationally, and $500 to $1,500 or more for major repair or full replacement. Valley flashing is $200 to $850 and skylight flashing $200 to $500. In Scottsdale the common flashing leaks are where a roof meets a stucco wall and where a flat roof turns up a parapet.
How much does it cost to fix a leak around a chimney?
A minor chimney leak costs $150 to $700 to fix nationally and a major one $1,000 to $3,500. Chimney flashing repair on its own is published at $300 to $1,800 on average. Many Scottsdale chimneys are framed boxes finished in stucco, and they leak at the cap and at cracked stucco as often as at the flashing, so the source has to be found before it is priced.
Should chimney flashing be step flashed, or is caulk enough?
Caulk alone is not enough. Sealant dries and splits within a few Scottsdale summers, and then the joint is open again. A chimney or a wall should have step flashing woven in with the roofing up the sides, and counter flashing or a stucco weep screed lapped over the top of it. Sealant is the last line, not the first. If a past repair is a thick bead of caulk or roof cement, expect the leak to return.
How much does a pipe boot or vent repair cost?
HomeGuide publishes two figures. Its roof repair page lists a vent boot repair at $75 to $150. Its leak page lists a cracked pipe boot at $250 to $600. The first is a simple reseal and the second is a boot replacement with the leak repair around it. Rubber pipe boots crack early in desert sun, and they are one of the most common leaks we see on shingle roofs.
How much does flat roof repair cost?
Flat roof repair cost averages $300 to $1,100 nationally, or $2.50 to $10.00 per square foot. A small leak is $150 to $500, an average leak $500 to $1,200 and a large one $1,200 to $3,000. Blistering or cracking is $250 to $1,250, and fixing sagging or pooling areas $800 to $2,500. Re-coating or resealing is published at $500 to $2,000.
How much does a roof inspection cost, and what does a roofer charge just to come out and look?
Our roof inspections are free, with photos and a written quote, so we charge nothing to come out and look. Other companies may bill a trip or service fee, so ask before you book. For comparison, the national roof inspection cost is $100 to $400, with an average of $280. A drone inspection is $100 to $450 and an infrared scan $400 to $600. A formal roof certification for a home sale is published at $75 to $200 and is a separate document from a free estimate.
How much does an emergency tarp cost?
An emergency roof tarp costs $175 to $700 on average nationally, or $1.00 to $2.80 per square foot for emergency work, plus a call-out fee of $100 to $200. A tarp is temporary. The published life is 60 to 90 days, and strong sun and monsoon wind are hard on tarps here, so book the permanent repair soon.
Is there a minimum charge for a small repair?
Most roofers have a minimum charge, because a truck, a crew and insurance cost the same for a ten-minute fix. Nationally, a minimum call-out fee of $150 to $300 is published for shingle repairs, $250 to $300 or more for flashing work and $300 to $500 for tile. Ask us for the price of your repair when we inspect; the inspection itself is free.
What is a fair price to patch a hole in the roof?
A fair price to patch a hole depends on what the hole went through. HomeGuide publishes no figure for a hole as such. Its nearest national figures are $150 to $1,000 for a minor repair and $200 to $500 per 100 square feet for roof deck repair. A hole through tile and underlayment only is at the small end. One that broke the plywood or let water into the ceiling is a bigger job. These are not our quotes. We price it after we see it, and a tarp can cover it in the meantime.
A few shingles blew off in the wind. Is that a big deal?
It is a small repair that should not wait. Where shingles blew off, the underlayment or bare deck is open to the sun and the next storm. Nationally, replacing 3 to 25 shingles is published at $100 to $300, a HomeGuide 2026 figure and not our quote. Ask the roofer to check why they let go. A few lost in one hard monsoon gust is ordinary. Shingles that come off in modest wind, or from several slopes, point to failed seal strips or brittle, sun-baked material across the roof.
A free roof inspection with photos and a written quote is the only way to get a real price for your roof. Call or text (480) 442-0926.
